The Braud company was founded in 1870 by Alexandre Braud in St Mars La Jaille, France. The first agricultural machine produced by Braud in 1908 was a power-driven threshing machine. Braud gained a strong foothold in the French combine harvester market, reaching 1600 units sold in 1968. The first Braud combine harvester was produced in 1955. In the 1970s, Braud concentrated on the production of grape harvesters and soon became the market leader for grape harvesters in less than four years.
