The history of Rostselmash combine harvester
The history of Rostselmash combine harvesters began in 1929, when an agricultural machinery plant was established in Rostov-on-Don. By 1932, the first Stalinets-1 combines had rolled off the production line, contributing to the rapid mechanisation of harvesting across the Soviet Union. After the Second World War, the company was rebuilt and began developing new machine designs. A major breakthrough came in 1958 with the launch of the self-propelled SK-3 combine. In 1973, the SK-5 Niva entered production and went on to become one of the most recognisable combine harvesters in Eastern Europe. The one-millionth combine left the factory in 1969, followed by the two-millionth machine in 1984. During the same period, the company began producing the high-capacity Don series, including the popular Don-1500 model. Following the economic changes of the 1990s, Rostselmash modernised its production facilities and expanded its product range. Modern Rostselmash combines use advanced electronics, automated control systems and precision farming technologies.
