David Brown is a British company that was a major tractor manufacturer from the 1930s to the 1970s. In 1936, David Brown first started producing tractors in a joint project with Harry Ferguson, which resulted in the Ferguson-Brown tractor. Immediately after World War II, David Brown became a major British manufacturer of agricultural tractors. The company’s main manufacturing plant was located in Meltham Mills, in the English county of Yorkshire. David Brown became a subsidiary of Tenneco in 1972 and operated as a division of JI Case. By 1983, tractors were no longer built under the David Brown name, but were signed with the Case logo. The Meltham plant was closed in 1988. It was the main factory where all David Brown farm tractors were manufactured.
