The History of Lamborghini Tractors

Lamborghini Trattori is an Italian manufacturer of agricultural tractors based in Cento, with roots dating back to 1948. The main founder of the company was Ferruccio Lamborghini, who started producing tractors using surplus military parts from World War II. The first mass-produced model, the Carioca, appeared relatively quickly, just one year after the start of operations. Thanks to a thoughtful strategy, Lamborghini Trattori became the largest tractor producer in Italy in 1969, confirming their ability to anticipate market needs. Despite the economic challenges of the 1970s, the company continued to expand its operations, although some shares were sold to the SAME group. Lamborghini decided not to limit itself to tractor production only. Leveraging its experience in engine manufacturing, it invested in acquiring licenses for MWM diesel engines, leading to the release of the DL 30 / DL 40 engine series in 1952. In 1957, the Lamborghinetta was introduced to the lineup—a compact tractor powered by a 2-cylinder Lamborghini engine, designed to compete with other popular tractors on the market. Thanks to this thoughtful strategy, Lamborghini tractors not only gained recognition in the Italian market but also worldwide.
